What is “isulong seoph?”

Isulong SEOPH is a search engine optimization contest that aims to promote the search engine marketing (SEM) and optimization (SEO) industry in the Philippines. It is a competition to get to the top of the search engine results pages (SERPS) on google.com.ph on 8pm of September 29, 2006, the last day of the contest’s duration.

Who’s doing this contest?

The contest idea was conceived among members of the SEO-Philippines mailing list and was officially launched by list owner Marc Macalua on noontime of June 1, 2006. Before the contest, the phrase “isulong seoph” produced no results for any search engine.

Why “isulong seoph?”

The phrase isulong seoph is taken from the Tagalog dialect, a subset of the Filipino language, and if summarized means promote search engine optimization philippines. The primary goal of this contest is to promote the Philippine community of SEO practitioners, many of which have been doing SEO for several years now, providing positive results for local and foreign web properties.

Why promote the Philippine SEM/SEO industry?

The Philippines has a healthy IT industry. We are on top of the world’s outsourced production support market, and has been one of the pioneers in catering to the worldwide demand in business process outsourcing.
